Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Update
June 1st, 2020
To Our Valued Patients,
We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.
Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.
Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.
We chose to remain closed until now, to allow for extra time to make the many necessary changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You will likely notice these changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:
•Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
•We have a sign posted outside the office, asking all patients to remain in your car and call us upon arrival at (605) 996-9235, for further instruction before entering the office. We ask all patients please do this so we can maintain appropriate social distancing and have as few patients in our reception room as possible, and explain our new intake protocol with you over the phone. Thank you in advance for your consideration regarding this matter.
•We have hand sanitizer just inside the front door that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some outside of the restroom and other places throughout the office for you to use as needed.
•You will see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
•You will see that our reception room now has only a few chairs to ensure all patients are maintaining social distance.
•Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
•We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
•We have also removed all items other than a few essentials from all countertops throughout the office.
•We have physical barriers between patients and staff members in the reception room.
•We have installed several new types of dispensers within our operatories to ensure proper infection control protocol.
•We have installed air purification systems in all operatories and the reception room.
•Staff members will be wearing N95 masks and surgical caps.
These are just a few of the changes we’ve made that will be visible to our patients, but many more have been implemented as the safety of our patients and dental team are of the utmost importance to us. As such, we will continue to monitor the situation within our community and make changes as are necessary. This includes potentially closing again if recommended by government officials, or if we personally feel it is the best choice to ensure the safety of our patients, dental team and community.
We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we have taken and will continue to take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice.
To make an appointment, please call our office at (605) 996-9235 or on our appointment request page.
Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.
Sincerely,
Dr. Timothy M. Drake and My Outstanding Dental Team
